Equipment Classes
Equipment Classes
The Pilates Equipment (Cadillac or trapeze table, reformer, chair, ped-o-pull) uses spring tension to either support the body and facilitate movement or add challenge and resistance. Exercise with the spring tension on the equipment leaves the body feeling longer, stronger, and strengthened from the core. One also develops stabilizing muscles of the spine, shoulders and pelvis. The equipment helps the practitioner relieve back discomfort as it helps develop freedom of movement in the joints. The equipment classes are designed for 3-5 students. Because they are taught in a group setting on technical apparatus, a basic ability to execute the 5 principles must be developed before taking these classes. Therefore permission of the instructor is required as well as 5 - 10 mat classes prior to enrolling.
GROUP EQUIPMENT: 3 - 5 students on the Cadillac. This class is suitable for advanced beginners and above.
SEMI PRIVATE: 2 - 4 students on the reformer. This class is most suitable for students who have attained at least an intermediate level in mat class. Permission of the instructor is required.
CHAIR CLASS: 3 - 4 students on the Pilates chair. This class has an athletic orientation and is recommended for the intermediate and advanced students. Permission of the instructor is required.
